About me and stuff

My name is Edgar Cantero. I can write and draw comics. Not at the same time.

I was born in Barcelona in 1981, and I trained myself as an author in the battlefields of literary contests in Catalan language.  However, the highbrow Catalan cultural tradition was soon outinfluenced in my mind by Hollywood blockbusters, videogames, and mass-market paperbacks.  My debut novel, Dormir amb Winona Ryder  (“Sleeping with Winona Ryder”, 2007) won the prestigious Joan Crexells award; the second one, the punk dystopian thriller Vallvi (2011), got me sizeably fewer honors and many more confused stares.

In Spanish, I have been a regular contributor to Spanish satirical magazine El Jueves since 2007, as a writer and cartoonist.  In English, I published the paranormal epistolar The Supernatural Enhancements in 2014.  It was followed by the horror/action/comedy Meddling Kids (2017), which became a New York Times bestseller.  There are dogs in both of them.

I recently moved to New York City and continue to write anything from short stories to screenplays.  I aspire to make very well-written popcorn fiction. You can contact me on Twitter, Tumblr, or e-mail.
